Malaysia Airlines launches direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo Haneda

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines Bhd will commence direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo Haneda starting on August 14, 2022.

This will mark Malaysia Airlines' fourth route to Japan after Kuala Lumpur - Osaka, Kuala Lumpur - Tokyo Narita and Kota Kinabalu - Tokyo Narita.

The expansion will complement its existing Kuala Lumpur – Tokyo Narita operations, allowing for more convenient and flexible itineraries and access beyond Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo via the respective international hubs in Japan.

Group chief executive officer Izham Ismail said this timely expansion is set to enhance the connectivity between the ASEAN market and drive a greater traffic recovery between Malaysia and Japan.

Izham said that as the national carrier, Malaysia Airlines is committed to ensuring that everyone can fly confidently with the airline, guided by exceptional Malaysian hospitality and a wide range of services.

"This expansion will allow us to tap into new opportunities by operating Asia's third-busiest airport and the fourth-busiest airport globally.

"It will also stimulate inbound traffic to benefit Malaysian tourism and build a stronger multiplier effect across the industry's value chain," he said.

Malaysia Airlines will operate flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Haneda Airport (HND) via MH36 departing KUL at 2.45pm, and MH37 departing HND at 12.25am.

The twice-weekly service will be operated by A330-300 aircraft, equipped with 290 seats, comprising 27 seats in Business Class, 16 Economy with extra legroom and 247 seats in economy class.
