KUALA LUMPUR: Jakel Capital Sdn Bhd has welcomed the decision of its associate company, Cypark Resources Bhd, for the appointment of Datuk Ami Moris as its independent non-executive director effective on 30 March 2023.
Jakel Capital chief executive officer Muhammad Ashraf said the appointment of Ami, whom he referred to as a professional of high calibre, signifies a fresh step for Cypark to break the status quo.
He said having Ami on board would improve not only its corporate governance but also further elevate the environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) agenda at Cypark.
"We look forward to the positive changes and contributions by Ami at Cypark in steering it towards improved ESG competencies and in transitioning into a world-class renewable energy industry player," he said.
Ami is the former chief executive of Maybank Investment Banking Group and was responsible for the investment banking and investment management business across ten-country regional platforms.
She also led the elevation from a single-market Malaysian entity into becoming Asean's leading homegrown investment bank before she retired in November last year.
Ami was also the chief architect of the sustainability-first approach for its stakeholders.
Apart from Maybank IB, she is also the chair of the 30% Club for Malaysian chapter, a global business campaign aimed at raising gender diversity, equity and inclusivity at boards and senior management.
