Malaysia Airlines expands Indonesian network with new flights to Kertajati

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines is expanding its network in Indonesia by introducing a new direct flight from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Kertajati (KJT) beginning October 30 this year.

In a statement today, the national airline said this will allow travellers to explore Bandung and more of West Java easily.

It added that this will also bring the airline's direct connectivity to the country to seven cities, including Jakarta, Denpasar, Medan, Yogyakarta, Pekanbaru and Surabaya.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) chief executive officer of airlines Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi said that as one of the top five largest markets for Malaysia Airlines, the addition of Kertajati to its network will not only provide greater flexibility and convenience for travellers, whether for leisure or business but also stimulate tourism receipts and strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.

"With this new service, travellers can seamlessly explore more of West Java, with its strategic connectivity to beautiful Bandung, Cirebon, Majalengka and more.

"As global travel demand continues to strengthen, we are seeing a positive response on our Indonesian routes, with an average load factor of 80 per cent.

"We invite travellers to take advantage of the introductory fares while enjoying the warm Malaysian Hospitality service that comes with flying with Malaysia Airlines," he noted.

To commemorate the launch of the new route, the airline is offering introductory fares for a limited time until October 8 for travel from October 30, 2023 to March 29, 2024.

Travellers may enjoy enticing fares starting at RM519 all-in return via Economy Class and RM1,969 all-in return via Business Class.

Malaysia Airlines will also provide a free shuttle service between Kertajati International Airport and Bandung city to ensure seamless end-to-end convenience for its guests.

The daily service will commence from October 30 to December 31 this year. Pick-up will be at the Arrival Hall (Kertajati International Airport) at 9pm and arrive at Pasteur, Bandung (opposite Aston Hotel) at 10.30pm. In contrast, shuttle services from Bandung will depart at 5pm and arrive at Kertajati International Airport at 6:30pm.

The twice-weekly flight will be operated by the airline's Boeing 737-800NG aircraft.
