TRIUMPH unveiled eight new models recently, consisting of six variants of the new Tiger 800, the Bonneville Bobber Black and the Speedmaster.
Prices for the new models start from RM56,900 for the Tiger 800 to RM79,900 for the Bonneville Bobber Black and Speedmaster.
Triumph says more than 200 upgrades have been made to the off-road-biased Tiger 800 XCx and the road-inclined Tiger 800 XRx.
The 800cc triple-cylinder engine produces 95PS and has been tuned to be more responsive while gearing has been reworked to give a shorter first gear.
Triumph says this is to improve traction, manoeuvrability as well as acceleration.
Both XCx and XRx ranges are now fitted with adjustable full-colour TFT instrument cluster, LED lighting, an updated cruise control and a five-position adjustable screen. They also come with Brembo front brakes, new suspension setups, enhanced chassis and new bodywork.
Other features include anti-lock braking system, traction control, ride by wire throttle, cruise control, power sockets and a two-position seat height. (810mm-830mm for the XRx, 840-860mm on the XCx)
The Bobber Black builds on the underpinnings of the original Bobber, but now features a fat 16-inch front wheel compared to the 19-inch ones found on the original Bobber.
Also upgraded are the forks, which are now the thicker 47mm Showas (compared to the 41mm on the Bobber). The Bobber Black also comes with full LED headlights with new daytime running lights and one-button cruise control.
The Speedmaster, on the other hand, builds on the Bonneville underpinnings and is imbued with styling cues from the Bobber, with the added convenience of an additional seat for a pillion.
The Speedmaster comes with swept back beach bars, forward seat pegs, 16-inch wire spoke wheels and a larger 12-litre tank for better range.
The mill powering the Speedmaster is the now familiar 1,200cc High Torque parallel-twin producing even more torque on the Bobber. In fact, Triumph has upped the torque figures by 42 per cent compared to the 2015 model, and 10 per cent compared to the current generation Bonneville T120.
Max torque is now 106Nm at 4,000rpm while horsepower is 77PS.
The new models were introduced at a dinner event in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang. Some 350 guests, including members of Triumph’s Ratpack motorcycle club, attended.
“We wanted to celebrate the launch of the new bikes among the people who have stood by the brand throughout the years, from the very first customer to the one who has just bought his Triumph and is now a member of the RatPack. We want these bikes to be welcomed by the people who are most passionate about the brand,” said Datuk Razak al - Malique, chief executive officer of Fast Bikes Sdn Bhd.
