New 2022 Subaru XV, GT now with EyeSight

KUALA LUMPUR: The newly refreshed 2022 Subaru XV and Subaru XV GT sports utility vehicle (SUV) now comes equipped with EyeSight Advanced Driver Assist technology alongside several enhancements inside out.

The inclusion of EyeSight Advanced Driver Assist Technology completes Subaru's four hallmark Core Technologies for the SUV model in Malaysia, which includes: Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Boxer Engine, Subaru Global Platform, and EyeSight Advanced Driver Assist Technology

The four core technologies contribute towards optimised handling, maximum comfort, and enhanced safety for everyone on board.

"Now with EyeSight, I am confident that the new XV will secure its place as the popular choice of Malaysian crossover fans, especially those looking for a safe, trusted and reliable vehicle," said Tan Chong International Limited deputy chairman and managing director Glenn Tan at the launch.

EyeSight uses a pair of stereo cameras for image recognition and operates in a similar way to human eyes. It can detect and recognise numerous objects from vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles to motorcycles, all at the same time.

The six functions of Subaru EyeSight Advanced Driver Assist Technology are: Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Sway Warning.

The new XV also includes new SI-Drive and Dual-Function X-Mode.

Complementing Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, X-Mode allows the driver to select between two different settings tailored to specific driving conditions: Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud.

SI-Drive is Subaru's powertrain performance management system allows the driver to choose between the vehicle's Sport (S) and Intelligent (I) driving modes.

Sport mode tunes the throttle to emphasise acceleration performance, while the Intelligent mode helps smooth out accelerator inputs for fuel saving.

The compact SUV's suspension has also been retuned, featuring coils and dampers optimised for an even smoother ride.

The XV's exterior is now more aggressive and sportier with its redesigned 17-inch wheels, and a new front bumper and grille. Interior has been upgraded with an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat with memory function for extra comfort.

For an even sportier XV theres the GT Edition. This second XV GT model is created in close collaboration with engineering company Giken Co. Ltd and Masahiko "Jack" Kobayashi.

The XV GT's bodykit is even more aggressive with the redesigned front under spoiler with added front bumper garnishes.

Both the variants come in six colours – Crystal Black Silica, Magnetite Grey Metallic, Ice Silver Metallic, Dark Blue Pearl, Pure White and Cool Grey Khaki.

The new Subaru XV 2.0i-P EyeSight is priced at RM139,788 (Peninsular Malaysia) with the GT Edition priced at RM146,788.
