KUALA LUMPUR: The much anticipated new MacBook Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips has finally arrived here.
The new models come in new designs, unlike the previous generation, and the usage of Apple's own M1 Pro and M1 Max chips will be able to give them a more powerful processing, graphics, and machine learning (ML) performance.
For these two new models, Apple has made some adjustments to the ports where there are now an HDMI port, SDXC card reader and a MagSafe 3 charging connector as an alternative charging mechanism, on top of the Thunderbolt 4 power slot.
Besides that, the new MacBook Pro also features a bright Liquid Retina XDR display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, and the best audio system in a notebook, combined with macOS Monterey, which is engineered down to its core to take full advantage of M1 Pro and M1 Max.
As for performance, the new MacBook Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max uses a system-on-a-chip (SoC) architecture systems for the first time, featuring fast unified memory and increased memory bandwidth for unparalleled performance with best-in-class performance per watt and industry-leading power efficiency.
Running on MacOS Monterrey, the new MacBook Pro offers up-to-10-core CPU with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores, along with an up-to-16-core GPU, M1 Pro delivers up to 70 per cent faster CPU performance than M1, and up to 2x faster GPU performance.
Battery life is also improved on the new MacBook Pro, where the 14-inch model could deliver up to 17 hours of video playback, which is seven additional hours, while the 16-inch model gets up to a remarkable 21 hours of video playback, which is 10 additional hours - the longest battery life ever on a Mac notebook.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro model starts at RM8,799, and RM8,199 for education; while the 16-inch MacBook Pro model starts at RM10,799, and RM9,999 for education,
