HONOR recenty launched the the Honor Magic V, which is one of its first foldable flagship smartphones.
What's uniques about this foldable phone is that it is crafted with zirconium liquid metals, carbon fibres, titanium alloy and adopts the floating waterdrop hinge technology that eliminates large gaps and creases from folding.
The phone is 14.3mm thin when folded and 6.7mm when unfolded, and has triple levels of aerospace-grade materials, and Honor claims that it can withstand 200,000 folds in more than 5 years.
Display
The phone sports a 6.45 inch external screen with up to 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio on a curved nanocrystal glass screen.
Given that it is 0.1mm thinner than normal screens, it is 9 per cent lighter and works better than the Corning Gorilla Glass panel rather than the normal ones.
It has a 7.9 inch internal screen with a 10:3:9 screen to body ratio, 21:3:9 when opened, which is almost the same size as mini-tablets.
What I like about this screen is the usage of the magnetron sputter optical nano-film, which has an ultra-low light reflection that makes the screen darker with almost no greyness in comparison to other phone screens.
Plus, it is also anti-dust, hydrophobic, anti-fingerprint, anti-oil with great durability thanks to the AF anti-fingerprint coating technology.
Processor
The new Honor Magic V is also powered with the new generation of Snapdragon 8 equipped with Qualcomm's 4nm processor.
This is also a game made for gamers as it comes with the Honor OS Turbo X and GPU Turbo X technologies, whch is great for gaming.
The phone has a 4750mAh battery coupled with a 66W Honor super-fast charger that sets it with longer battery life and faster charging.
Photography
For photography, the phone sports a 50MP Wide Camera that has a 1/1.5 inch sensor, 6P optics, and f/1.9 aperture lens for clear shots even in the dark.
Besides that, the phone also sports a 50MP Spectrum Enhanced Camera with A 1/2.5 inch sensor, f/2.0 aperture lens, and 20mm focal length for detailed shots as well as 50MP Ultra-wide camera to fit everything in a shot
Also, it has an A1/3.2 inch 42MP lens with an equivalent 24mm focal length for the External 42MP front camera and an Internal 42MP Front camera that's great for taking photos and videos when folded or unfolded.
Split screen
Being the first foldable phone with a multi-screen collaboration, users will be able to multitask through an easy switch between the full-screen, split-screen, and floating window where the apps will be shown orderly based on users' preference.
It can also be used as an additional screen with a smoother cross-device interaction for communicating while working or writing while searching.
Price and availability
The Honor Magic V is not available in Malaysia yet, but is priced at RMB9,999 (RM6,596) for the 12+256GB version, and RMB10,999 for the 12+512GB version in China. The phone comes in three colours - Black, Space Silver and Burnt
