#TECH: Pikom enters tripartite collaboration to promote WCIT 2022

WASHINGTON: National Tech Association of Malaysia, Pikom has signed a memorandum of understanding with Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) and World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance in efforts to promote the 26th edition of the World Congress on Innovation and Technology (WCIT 2022) which will be held on Sept 13 to 15 in Penang.

"This MoU marks another important milestone for Pikom as the organiser of WCIT 2022 in Malaysia. The inclusion of HRD Corp as strategic partner will benefit all the business members and business communities.

"Being part of this global event will enable them to further connect with industry players who are within the Digital Technology and Business Services sectors," said Pikom's chairman, Dr Sean Seah.

The signing ceremony was held at a meet and greet session here and was witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who was in the United States for the Asean-US Special Summit.

World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (Witsa) secretary general, Dr James Poisant said that it is important for the alliance to continue engaging with the right partners to strengthen, drive and grow the industry, especially when tech is the key driver of the global economy today.

"Leaders in the tech, digital and innovation space will be in Malaysia this September, so no one should miss this opportunity to be part of WCIT 2022," added Poisant.

Witsa is a leading consortium of the ICT industry association with over 80 member economies around the world, representing more than 90 per cent of the world's technology market.

Among the collaboration areas outlined in the MoU includes human capital development, technology development and adoption, global best practices experience sharing and thought leadership in technology.

"We are excited to partner with Pikom and Witsa in organising the WCIT 2022 as we place training and development in ICT and digital technology on the centre stage for Malaysian talents and organisations. This partnership is also aligned to HRD Corp's own internationalisation strategy, enabling us to offer more real-world value to our stakeholders with opportunities from around the world," said HRD Corp CEO, Datuk Shahul Dawood.

To encourage local participation, Seah added that the delegation tickets for WCIT 2022 are HRDF-claimable and that the association is also working with Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) to assist participants to apply for the Market Development Grant (MDG).

WCIT 2022 is one of the largest tech events with a target of over 4,000 delegates from 80 countries are expected to attend the conference.
