#TECH: Honey tasting experience via Microsoft HoloLens 2

KUALA LUMPUR: Comvita, New Zealand's Manuka honey producer has opened its first Malaysian retail store in Pavilion Bukit Jalil, featuring Microsoft HoloLens 2 for its Mixed Reality Manuka Honey Tasting Experience.

Comvita's collaboration with Microsoft lets visitors experience the link between Manuka honey's complex taste, its beneficial compounds, and its sustainable origin using their sense of sight and sound via the HoloLens 2.

The 'Journey of Health and Taste' includes the best-kept secrets of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Comvita's Southeast Asia marketing manager, Munwai Cheaw said initially, Comvita built a multi-sensory honey-tasting centre called Wellness Lab in Auckland.

"We would like to bring the same experience to consumers worldwide, which prompted us to collaborate with Microsoft using the HoloLens 2 technology and debut it at the Expo Dubai 2020 for visitors to try. Malaysia's the second country to have the Mixed Reality Manuka Honey Tasting Experience. This is also the first time HoloLens 2 is being used in a retail environment for consumers," he said.

At the event, there were also desserts such as cakes and ice cream made out of Comvita's Manuka Honey as well as family-friendly activities such as the Comvita Colouring Contest for Children and Combita Terrarium Planting Workshop in partnership with Rent a Pot Landscape (RAPSCAPE).
