KUALA LUMPUR: Honor has released the Honor Magic Vs, marking its foray into the foldable flagship smartphone market.
Weighing only 261 grams, the new Magic Vs is the industry's lightest foldable smartphone. At 12.9mm thin, it has a symmetrical and seamless design, making it a slim foldable device that is easy to carry while also providing a premium experience to its user.
Honor Device's chief executive officer, George Zhao, said the Honor R&D team managed to develop super-light gearless hinge using a single-piece casting technology, which could drastically reduce the number of supporting structure components used in the hinge 92 to only four, while still maintaining its durability and sturdiness.
The hinge is made of aerospace-grade materials and can withstand over 400,000 folds, which is equivalent to more than 10 years of use at 100 folds per day, setting a new standard in foldable smartphone design.
"The Honor Magic Vs will be our very first foldable flagship to debut in overseas markets and we are confident that it will deliver huge advancement, transforming how people all around the world use their smartphones," said Zhao.
When folded, the Magic Vs has a 6.45-inch display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio for an extra wide 7.9-inch internal display.
Its 5000 mAh battery pack is the largest in the same class of existing foldable smartphones for all-day use.
The phone also includes a brand-new feature called the Circadian Night Display, which effectively reduces the negative effects of blue light and assists users in improving sleep quality.
The new Magic Vs' internal and external screens are both equipped with 1920Hz PWM dimming technology to reduce screen flickering and ensure a comfortable viewing experience even in low-light environments.
The new Honor Magic Vs has a price of Chinese Renminbi 10,000, but prices for different markets will be announced along with availability.
