#Showbiz: Ramli Ibrahim's odissi show finally happening

KUALA LUMPUR: After being postponed twice in March and October last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Sutra Dance Theatre's production of Triple Frontiers will finally be staged from April 9 in Petaling Jaya.

The show first premiered in Seremban last Friday before it was staged in Melaka the following day.

Directed by renowned Malaysian classical Indian dance master Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, the production features a triple-bill of odissi performances created by Sujata Mishra, Parwati Dutta and Meera Das.

Triple Frontiers, which marks the first time Sutra Dance Theatre is staging the works of female gurus, showcases the talents of a combination of 18 female and six male dancers.

A Gala Fundraising Night show will happen on April 9 at 8pm at the PJ Civic Centre Auditorium on Jalan Yong Shook Lin in PJ New Town. There will also be a show on April 10 and 11 at 8.30pm.

"Public performances have the ability to restore the confidence of the community after more than a year of the gloomy pandemic lockdown of Covid-19.

"We value your support and confidence by celebrating with us this live dance-theatre experience, which we have missed so much," said Ramli.

He added: "Take note that our season is SOP compliant. The show is going to be great and will definitely lift your Covid Blues."

Entrance is by invitation only with a donation of RM50, RM80 or RM150 for the Gala Fundraising Night. April 10 and 11 will be invitation by donation of RM40 or RM60.
