#Showbiz: New singing competition 'Getaran Jiwa' calling for auditions

KUALA LUMPUR: TVS (formerly TV Sarawak) is currently looking for talented singers to belt out classic tunes by the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee and Puan Sri Saloma in a new singing competition show, Getaran Jiwa.

The programme which features Mia Hassan and Fir Affandi as hosts, aims to revive the timeless and versatile repertoire through performances and to pay homage to the legacy left behind by the legendary artistes.

TVS CEO Suhaimi Sulaiman explained that Getaran Jiwa was also meant to uncover great talents and to provide a platform for singers to express themselves.

"TVS is always ready to collaborate with talents and other productions in Sarawak for a successful programme and we want to invite as many singers to join this new singing competition," he said in a press statement recently.

Getaran Jiwa producer Yume Suryani added: "In line with the lyrics to P. Ramlee's famous composition, 'tak mungkin hilang irama dan lagu', the show will not only highlight the contestants' singing abilities but also their stage performances."

Open to Malaysians aged 18 and above, the competition will be judged by a panel made up of professionals, as well as an online voting system where the audience can select their favourite contestant via scanning a QR code that will be displayed onscreen during the show.

A series of attractive cash prizes and trophies await the winners.

Auditions are currently open until Sept 11 and those interested to participate can submit a video of their performance in adherence to the new normal.

Entries must be in the mp4 file format, no longer than five minutes in duration and singing should be recorded using a microphone.

Participants are only to audition with pre-selected P. Ramlee and Saloma songs chosen by the production.

Female participants can choose to perform Darah Muda, Mengapa Dirindu, Hati Muda, Gelora Jiwa or Anak Rantau while participants can select Engkau Laksamana Bulan, Anak Dara Rindu, Aduh Sayang, Bunyi Gitar or Kwek Mambo to perform.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a face-to-face selection session. The video auditions to be emailed to music@tvstv.my.
