KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Sharifah Shahirah and her family are now casual contacts after her mother-in-law and veteran actress Datin Maria Arshad tested positive for Covid-19 Category 2 on Saturday.
The wife of actor Ijoy Azhari took to Instagram yesterday to inform that she was now voluntarily undergoing self-quarantine for 10 days even though she didn't have to after testing negative for the coronavirus.
But her 63-year-old mother-in-law has been down with fever for a week and shows no improvement even after taking paracetamols.
"My mother-in-law had complained of headaches and fever.
"Although she did a Covid-19 self-test which came out negative, her condition was still the same.
"When her situation at home got worse we decided to bring her to a private hospital for treatment.
"We were surprised that the doctor had confirmed she was positive for Covid-19 Stage 2," she said in a news report today.
The actress, who is also a radio announcer fondly known as Shiera, explained that she had no idea on the source of infection but would take the Covid-19 test again in five days in line with the doctor's advice.
Praying for the best, she added: "So all work matters that require face-to-face interaction will have to be postponed."
