#Showbiz: Jamal Abdillah's new cosmetics business venture a gift to wife

KUALA LUMPUR: After setting up an Arowana-breeding business venture late last year, Malaysian pop king Datuk Jamal Abdillah is now eyeing the beauty industry.

The 62-year-old evergreen crooner has chosen to become a business partner with Zarania following its solid reputation after releasing the cosmetic product Natasya which has lasted over a decade in the competitive market.

"The idea for the collaboration came about after seeing how my wife Datin Zai Izzati Khiruddin loves to beautify herself and frequently put on makeup.

"So my partnership with this cosmetics company is a gift to her in conjunction with the pregnancy of our third child.

"Although I was excited for this new venture, there was still a sense of nervousness since this is the first time that I'm doing something in the cosmetics field.

"But I believe that this product will go far and will perhaps be the starting point for me to be more active in this industry. If there's rezeki, we will be producing a slew of other beauty products as well," he said in a Harian Metro report today.

Jamal explained that there were already nine items on the market sold at affordable prices from RM25 to RM49.

In honour of one of his most popular songs in his long-running music career, an Azura set has also been introduced in a savings package where purchasers could stand a chance to win interesting prizes as well.

The various products are also currently available for sale in Brunei, Indonesia and Singapore.

"The special thing about Zarania products is that all of its products are manufactured in GMP-compliant (good manufacturing practice) plants.

"Even the ingredients in the various products are safe to be used and suitable for all age groups, as well as of the same quality standards as international products," he said.

Jamal added that there might even be a men's line of products in store in the future and added that sales had been good so far.

"I am very grateful that during this pandemic many have still purchased the products online.

"This is in line with the marketing strategy of companies nowadays that focus more on online sales," he said.

Jamal wedded Zai Izzati on April 1, 2017 and was blessed with a daughter Nur Azura Yamani on Oct 10, 2019.

Their son El Issac was born on Nov 11 last year and the couple is expecting their third next year.

Jamal also has two other sons, Osama Yamani, 20, and Ahmad Zaki Yamani, 15, from two previous marriages.
