#Showbiz: 'Resume filming only after 7-day quarantine' - Finas

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Film Development Corporation (Finas) has urged all production companies to remain vigilant in curbing the spread of Covid-19 on film sets.

Its chairman Zakaria Abdul Hamid said that companies should make sure that every film crew member strictly observed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) while at work.

"We recently received a complaint about a production company that did not stop filming even though some of its crew members were tested positive for Covid-19.

"However, when we sent our team to investigate, we found that they actually adhered to the SOP for filming," he said in an interview with Berita Harian Online today.

Zakaria added that the company's mistake was resuming work a day before the quarantine period ended.

"Filming was supposed to be halted for the seven-day quarantine period, but this company resumed work after six days."

Zakaria urged all production companies to conduct periodic Covid-19 tests for all crew members.

"Such tests should be a must for everyone on the set to be safe. It is true that people will still get infected with the coronavirus, but if everyone is vaccinated the chances of getting infected will be minimal," said Zakaria.
