#Showbiz: 8 hip hop artistes collaborate on positive message track 'Dua Puluh'

KUALA LUMPUR: Eight young rap artistes Yonnyboii, Kmy Kmo, Luca Sikta, Ical Mosh, Benzooloo, B-Heart, Juki and Siqma have collaborated on a new hip hop track titled Dua Puluh.

Founder of Playaz street clothing brand Moiz Ali and Def Jam Malaysia head Hermond Cheng brought eight artistes together for the groovy track that was adapted from an original song Marysia written by Kmy and B-Heart.

Kmy said that Dua Puluh contained many positive elements in the lyrics that would be of value to young listeners.

Some of the issues touched on include facing the challenges of moving to a big city, finding self-confidence and advice on characteristics that could be toxic to others.

"It's a song about our various trials, efforts and accomplishments. For example, my journey from the kampung to the city, and then to the international stage.

"It's an energetic number with its own aura combined with a great group of compatriots, each with varied characteristics," said Kmy in a news report today.

The rappers hope that fans and hip hop lovers will respond positively to their collaborative effort with Dua Puluh.

"Hopefully hip hop fans will be able to accept this experiment of ours and have fun listening to it as the year comes to a close.

"Seeing that the original song is Marysia made by B-Heart and Kmy, I hope fans of that track will also be able to accept this new version by us," said Luca.

Dua Puluh was released on Dec 3 and is available on all major digital platforms. The music video for the new track can be viewed on the YouTube channel of Playaz Network.
