#Showbiz: Strangling co-star for cheap gimmick is a no-no, says Fazley Yaakob

KUALA LUMPUR: While artistes taking to social media to promote their projects is among the new marketing approaches today, Datuk Fazley Yaakob feels there is no need for cheap gimmicks.

In an Instagram post yesterday, the singer and celebrity chef criticised the recent brouhaha created by artistes Mona Allen and Iqram Dinzly on social media.

Several days after Mona had claimed that her co-star in Hati Yang Dikhianati had strangled her during filming, Iqram finally admitted that it was only a gimmick to boost ratings for the TV drama series.

"I've been in entertainment for 23 years, and I still find their gimmick as too much.

"I admit, there's nothing wrong to create some content for social media as promotional gimmicks, but as public figures, artistes must always remember that bad behaviour shown could easily be copied by children, resulting in serious problems in our society later," he said.

He added that artistes displaying such behaviour on public platforms could also tarnish their own reputation if the public were led to speculate for long.
