KUALA LUMPUR: TGV Cinemas announced that it will be offering cinemagoers a free ticket with any ticket purchase to watch a movie tomorrow.
The popular cinema chain took to social media to share the good news in a cheeky post.
It read: "Inspired by recent fake news of ghost VIPs, Minmin presents TGV-V-V-VIP Day!"
"V-V-VIP status is available to all, from marhaen like Minmin to kayangan people. Come chill-chill and watch movies but sorry, #NoRestartAtTGV even for V-V-VIP!
"To enjoy V-V-VIP treatment this Friday, 11 March 2022, login or join our MovieClub and receive ONE FREE movie ticket with any ticket purchase. #KitaSemuaVIP #TGVIP," it said.
The promo follows a recent kerfuffle involving the restarting of a screening of The Batman after 45 minutes at its Vivacity Megamall branch in Kuching, Sarawak.
Initial speculation on the matter led to the misconception that the 3 hour-long DC superhero movie was restarted due to the late arrival of VIP patrons which went viral.
TGV later cleared the air by announcing that the rumours were false and the real reason was due to technical issues and miscommunication.
The cinema chain issued an official apology on the matter and added that all affected patrons would be receiving a full refund as well as two complimentary movie tickets for the unintentional ordeal.
