#Showbiz: Lyricist, ex-journalist Rudy Imran Shamsudin dies

KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning lyricist and former Harian Metro journalist Rudy Imran Shamsudin died today following his ongoing colorectal cancer battle.

He breathed his last at his family home in Semenyih, Selangor at 11.30am. He was 47.

His former colleague at Harian Metro, Sudirman Mohd Tahir said that Rudy was earlier treated at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), before being discharged two days ago.

"Two days ago, I was informed by his sibling that he was already back home. However, the family requested that it was kept quiet," said Sudirman who last saw Rudy when he visited him at the hospital in January.

Rudy, who was with Harian Metro between 2004 and 2019, had been a journalist for 26 years.

As a lyricist, using the pseudonym Iman Imran, his best work was Dayang Nurfaizah's Lelaki Teragung, which became Best Song at the 31st Anugerah Juara Lagu.

Rudy had also written a novel which was inspired by love stories of local celebrities titled Menangkah Cinta?
