#Showbiz: BTS breaks Destiny's Child's Billboard Music Awards record

KUALA LUMPUR: The uber popular K-pop group BTS breaks another record at the recent Billboard Music Awards 2022 (BMA) held in Los Angeles last weekend.

Of the six nominations, the South Korean group was announced the winner for three awards, making the group with the most awards in the history of BMA — 12 awards in total throughout six years being nominated.

The record was previously been held by the all-female group Destiny's Child for 17 years, with 11 awards.

Since first nominated at the awards show in 2017, BTS had never walked away empty-handed.

This year, the group took home the Top Duo/Group award for the third time since 2019, making BTS to equal that of the now defunct One Direction who in the past had won the category thrice.

The other two trophies awarded to BTS were for Top Song Sales Artiste and Top Selling Song.

However, BTS — comprising members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkoook — was not present at the awards show.
