#Showbiz: Quinton Academy set up to produce more skilled filmmakers

KUALA LUMPUR: With the aim of producing more skilled and certified talent in local film industry, film producer Aron Koh and film director Ryon Lee have teamed up to establish Quinton Academy.

Koh who has 18 years of experience in filmmaking, said the lack of art schools in the country had driven both of them to set up this academy.

"As a producer, I admit that while having the talent is important for every industry player, it is equally important for them to have more opportunities and platforms to express their creativity.

"There are also not many schools for filmmaking here," said Koh in a news report today.

Koh who was formerly the general manager of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology's Film and TV Academy said that as a start, the academy would offer professional certificate for 10 courses which included cinematography, acting and theatre, creative writing and content directing.

Besides lining up qualified teaching staff — both local and foreign — Quinton Academy will also link up with other institutions such as Lincoln University College, Broadway Academy and New York Film Academy.

"We also hope to start offering courses at diploma and degree levels by September or October," he said.
