#Showbiz: Celebrate the natural elements melodically with Eesha Sarvesha concert

KUALA LUMPUR: After two years of being stifled by the pandemic, local music and dance institute Laasya Arts Academy is set to stage its major music production, Eesha Sarvesha, focussing on the South Indian classical music form of Carnatic music.

The grand production, involving 50 of its students accompanied by professional musicians in a Carnatic orchestra musical ensemble, will take place at the Temple of Fine Arts in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Eesha Sarvesha will feature original musical compositions celebrating the five major elements in nature — earth, water, wind, fire and space — that are essential to all lifeforms in the world.

Melded with specific ragas (melodies) to aurally illustrate the characteristics and functionality that each element possesses, the various musical items aim to move, awe and entertain audiences alike.

The lyrics to the beautifully intertwined choruses and symphonies were written by Dr M. Bala Tharmalingam, while the music was created by dance music composer Achyuthan Sashidaran Nair and Laasya Arts Academy founder and principal Guruvayur Usha Dorai.

The music and dance institute, established 20 years ago in the capital city, now nurtures over 300 students and is born from the founder's love and desire to preserve the Tamil culture and its fine arts.

Admission to its latest production, Eesha Sarvesha, is by invitation. Book your invites thru Ms Shanthi at +6019-6888978 or Guruvayur Usha Dorai at +6012-3237434.
