#Showbiz: BTS makes radio shows 'cool' again

KUALA LUMPUR: K-Pop icons BTS are once again making music history, this time with their new radio show.

ETX Studios reported yesterday that BTS had the most listened to radio show on Apple Music since the beginning of the year.

The South Korean boy band achieved this feat with BTS Radio: Past & Present, which looks back on its history.

"BTS Army, you did it!" said Apple Music on its Twitter account, praising the dedication of BTS fans known as Army.

The Army recently helped BTS break a new record on the streaming platform with the first episode of the radio show.

The three-episode show traces the history of BTS ahead of the June 10 release of their new album Proof.

BTS leader RM said: "We wanted to use this show to celebrate nine years of BTS with Army all over the world."

The first part takes listeners on a tour of the songs that helped define the sound and style of BTS.

The second, airing tomorrow, revisits the band's fan-favourite songs, while the final episode focuses on its dramatic rise.

For more than a decade, music lovers have been turning away from radio and in favour of platforms such as YouTube, Spotify and TikTok.

Apple Music vice president Oliver Schusser said: "Apple Music radio provides an unparalleled global platform for artistes to talk about, create, and share music with their fans.

"We will continue to invest in live radio and create opportunities for listeners to connect with the music they love."
