#Showbiz: Miles Teller had near-death experience on set of 'Top Gun: Maverick'

KUALA LUMPUR: Top Gun: Maverick actor Miles Teller feared he was going to die during the making of the adrenaline-pumping aviation blockbuster.

Entertainment portal Bang reported today that Teller, 35, feared the worst while filming in an F-18 Hornet jet.

Teller, who plays fighter pilot Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, said: "I definitely had a moment where I thought I was going to die.

"There was a sequence where we were heading straight towards the ground and you do what's called a Max G pull-up. You're heading down and at the last second you yank up, and it's really tough for the pilot."

Teller added that it was the first time he was doing such a manoeuvre and thought that it would "not end well".

Despite his near-death experience, Teller avoided vomiting while taking part in the flying sequences that had been set up by the main star and co-producer of the film, Tom Cruise.

"When there's that much adrenaline and a healthy bit of fear, I was able to hold it down. I guess that's a secret skill I have," said Teller.

Cruise is famous for doing his own stunts but Teller does not "go to such extremes".

He said: "Tom does this because he's experienced and that's what the audience want to watch.

"As for me, I've got injured a few times, and when we have a perfectly good stuntman, I don't want to put him out of a job."
