#Showbiz: Netflix's 'All Of Us Are Dead' to have second season

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular South Korean coming-of-age zombie series All Of Us Are Dead will be returning for another season.

News of the highly-anticipated second season for the thrilling Netflix show was announced by the streaming giant yesterday.

The update was also reiterated by the series' leading stars Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun and Lomon in an accompanying video clip on YouTube where the four artistes also thanked fans for their strong support.

All Of Us Are Dead follows a group of students fighting for their lives after a science experiment that goes awry leads to a zombie apocalypse.

The first season of the horror series topped Netflix charts around the world, and remains one of two Korean shows, after Squid Game, in Netflix's Top 10 most popular non-English TV shows.

After its premiere, All Of Us Are Dead shot straight into the top 10 most watched non-English TV series in a staggering 91 countries, and stayed there for two consecutive weeks.

It also drew 361.02 million viewing hours in its first 10 days, with viewers kept on the edge of their seats rooting for the Hyosan High juniors over the 12 episodes.

In an interview with The Korea Herald earlier this year, the show's director Lee Jae-Kyoo said that, "Many directions, settings and scenes were intentionally produced to expand the story into an additional season."

He added: "If the first season can be seen as having presented humanity's survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies. I hope to present viewers with another season."

So far, no further details including a release date for All Of Us Are Dead: Season 2 have been announced yet.
