#Showbiz: Pay up for scrapped concert - Afjets to Search

KUALA LUMPUR: The organiser of rock band Search's 2016 concert that never was, wants its members to "pay up" what the High Court has ordered them.

Afjets Sdn Bhd, the organiser of the Search 35 concert, has urged Search's then members Nasir Daud, Noordin (Din) Mohd Taib and Hamzah (Kid) Mohd Taib to pay up RM500,000 in special damages, for breaching their agreement to hold the concert.

The company's chief executive officer Amrul Nizar Anuar said in a statement today that they were also to receive general damages estimated at RM1 million, which had yet to be ascertained.

He said that Nasir, Din and Kid were ordered by the Shah Alam High Court to pay the company on Aug 18, 2017.

However, on the advice of his company's lawyers, Afjets chose not to pursue legal action against Search's vocalist Suhaimi (Amy) Abdul Rahman as he had been declared bankrupt then.

"We also learnt that Nasir, the bassist, had also been declared bankrupt," said Amrul Nizar.

Search subsequently split into two different lineups, and each held a separate concert earlier this month.

The first lineup comprising Amy, Nasir, Man Kidal and Hillary Ang performed in Konsert Endemik Search at Zepp KL, Bukit Bintang City Centre, on June 4.

The second lineup comprising Din, Kid, Yan, Minn and Denden Gonjalez performed in Rockin' On The Rooftop in Campbell Complex, Jalan Dang Wangi on June 11.

"Afjets has been made aware of a tour of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia involving Din and Kid, from August until March next year," said Amrul Nizar.

"We view this seriously, it has been five years since the judgement was made, we still have not received a response from the members."

Amrul Nizar added that his company would "take necessary action" to enforce the court's decision, as they had given Search time to "take care" of their finances.

"We strongly believe that the organisation of both concerts shows that Search has got back on its feet again and is capable of paying up what is due."
