#Showbiz: Search will discuss settlement of RM500k with Afjets

KUALA LUMPUR: The members of rock band Search will soon have a meeting with concert organiser Afjets Sdn Bhd, to find "the best solution" to pay them the RM500,000 compensation decided by the High Court five years ago.

The group's manager Mozylir Mokhtaruddin said that all of the members involved in the lawsuit between Afjets and Search in 2017, were "on holiday" and they would be meeting up soon.

"We cannot say much for now. But they will be having a meeting in the nearest possible time," said Mozylir in a news report today.

Mozylir also said that the Search members would be coming up with a statement after the meeting with Afjets.

"We want to resolve this matter fast, so that we can continue to collaborate with Afjets in future," said Mozylir, adding that the court case would not affect the members' reputations.

"Afjets and Search have always got along well. This is a minor hiccup in our relationship," he said.

Yesterday Afjets, the organiser of the Search 35 concert in 2016 that never materialised, wanted its members to "pay up" what the Shah Alam High Court had ordered them.

Afjets' chief executive officer Amrul Nizar Anuar urged Search's then members Nasir Daud, Noordin (Din) Mohd Taib and Hamzah (Kid) Mohd Taib to pay up RM500,000 in special damages, for breaching their agreement to hold the concert.

Nasir, Din and Kid were ordered by the Shah Alam High Court to pay the company on Aug 18, 2017.

Search subsequently split into two different lineups, and each held a separate concert earlier this month.

The first lineup comprising Amy, Nasir, Man Kidal and Hillary Ang performed in Konsert Endemik Search at Zepp KL, Bukit Bintang City Centre, on June 4.

The second lineup comprising Din, Kid, Yan, Minn and Denden Gonjalez performed in Rockin' On The Rooftop in Campbell Complex, Jalan Dang Wangi on June 11.

Amrul Nizar said that Afjets strongly believed that the successful organisation of both concerts showed that Search was now "in good financial shape" and was capable of paying up what was due.
