KUALA LUMPUR: Local epic movie Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan continues to slay the box office by collecting RM39.2 million after 10 days of cinema screenings in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.

Its producers said that the action movie based on the titular historical Malay hero had raked in an impressive total of RM7.3 million alone for Saturday's screenings in the three countries.

"Masya-Allah, this is all due to the power of God," said Mat Kilau director Syamsul Yusof in a video uploaded on his Instagram account yesterday.

Aside from expressing his surprise and gratitude for the phenomenal reception and box office results of the movie, he also thanked the fans who had supported all of his screen works.

"Thank you to all the fans in Malaysia, Singapura and Brunei. Thank you for still believing in me and my team.

"Not just for this film but for all of my works so far. There will be more work coming out after this. Look out for them," he said.

The son of renowned local producer and director Datuk Yusof Haslam had previously posted an entry on Instagram to share the good news that the popular movie had grossed over RM23.3 million at the box office just after a week of screenings.
