#Showbiz: Mat Kilau's descendants book cinema hall to watch biopic

KUALA LUMPUR: A viral TikTok video has highlighted legendary Malay warrior Mat Kilau's descendants' keen interest in his biopic which is now reigning at the box office.

The video which is registered under @thenazfamily shows a well-dressed, extended family posing outside a cinema somewhere in the federal capital, about to walk into the cinema hall which they had earlier booked.

The caption to the video mentions who they are and how proud they feel about the movie that highlights their illustrious ancestor's struggles against British colonial rule in Pahang.

It read: "Dressed in traditional Malay attire, the heirs of Mat Kilau have booked an entire hall to watch the first film made about the great freedom fighter. They cheered and clapped once the film was over."

It is learnt that the family is descended from Mat Kilau's daughter Khatijah. Some of them carried a banner which stated that they are her great grandchildren.

"They are not out to seek cheap publicity. They want to show their love and support to the producers, director and cast of Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan and honour the memory of their great ancestor," read the caption.
