#Showbiz: Roslan Aziz 'cancer free', undergoing radiotherapy

KUALA LUMPUR: Music producer, composer and former Malaysian Idol judge Roslan Aziz, 60, has beaten stage four lymphoma cancer, which had afflicted him since December last year.

Roslan's wife Sopphilea Hamid, 40, announced the good news to Harian Metro Online yesterday.

"Syukur Alhamdulillah, Roslan has been cleared of the Big C after having a Computed Tomography (CT) scan recently," said Sopphilea, adding that the many rounds of chemotherapy he underwent had helped him beat the disease.

"However, he is still undergoing radiotherapy to make sure the cancer cells are well and truly destroyed."

Sopphilea added that Roslan would be undergoing radiotherapy at Kuala Lumpur Hospital, since Ampang Hospital where he underwent chemotherapy did not conduct such treatment.

"It's God's second chance for him. On my part, I will continue to take good care of Roslan and make sure he eats right," said Sopphilea.

She also said that Roslan's illness brought them closer together, and they now cherish every moment they spent together.

"Roslan is a strong, positive thinker. He has fought bravely to defeat the disease."

Early this year, Roslan said that doctors gave him until June to live, but he vowed to "fight to the end".

Roslan and Sopphilea have been married for 20 years and have two sons Megat Ali Aziz and Megat Zayn Hamza Aziz.

Roslan also has two children Wan Nur Khaleeda Aziz, better known as singer-songwriter Kayda Aziz and Megat Abdul Majid Aziz, from his first marriage to singer Datuk Sheila Majid.
