KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor Beto Kusyairy is known to go "all out" in every role he plays, and becoming a "human torch" is part and parcel of his job.
The star of films such as CEO and Anak Rimau recently braved himself to perform the risky "human torch" stunt for his new telemovie Halimun.
"I sometimes do my own stunts and even though the production company had a stuntman to play my character escaping from a blazing fire, I wanted to make things look real," said Beto in an interview with Harian Metro online recently.
Beto said that he burnt his lips a little while performing the stunt as the protective jelly which the stunt team members applied on his face missed part of his lips.
"To be a good actor you need not brave yourself to do such risky stunts. However, playing a human torch has always been my dream stunt so I mustered the courage to do it.
"I want to thank the entire production and stunt team of Halimun for making sure that everything went smoothly during my 30-second fiery task. You've all made my day," said Beto.
Halimun is directed by Muzzamer Rahman and also stars Nabila Huda Suhaimi and Kodi Rasheed.
