#Showbiz: BTS, BlackPink make history with Korean Circle Chart certifications, RM's solo album out on Dec 2

KUALA LUMPUR: K-Pop titans BTS and BlackPink have made new milestone achievements on South Korea's influential Circle Chart.

Formerly known as the Gaon Chart, it offers the latest official certification for Korean album sales, song downloads and online streaming.

According to Soompi, the Circle Chart announced yesterday that BTS' chart-topping 2020 album, Map Of The Soul: 7, has garnered a quintuple million certification.

This makes the release the first album in Korean history to sell over five million copies.

BlackPink, which dropped its popular studio album, Born Pink, this year saw the release raking in a double million certification for selling over two million copies.

The international female quartet also saw its mega-hit song from 2018, Ddu-Du Ddu-Du, receiving a double platinum streaming certification after it surpassed 200 million streams.

This makes BlackPink the first Korean girl group in history to earn that accolade.

Meanwhile, BTS member RM will be releasing his debut solo album next month.

Soompi reported that the talented idol's solo release will be titled Indigo and that it will be out on Dec 2.

The new album would also feature collaborations with American artiste Pharrell and South Korean rock band Cherry Filter.
