#Showbiz: BTS first artiste to win American Music Award's Favourite Pop Duo/Group 4 times in a row

KUALA LUMPUR: Global K-Pop sensation BTS has won Favourite Pop Duo or Group at the 2022 American Music Awards (AMA) which took place in Los Angeles, USA yesterday.

According to Soompi, this makes the seven-member music group the first artiste in AMA history to win the particular award four times.

The previous record for most Favourite Pop Duo or Group wins was a five-way tie between BTS, Aerosmith, The Black Eyed Peas, Hall & Oates, and One Direction, all of whom had won the award three times each.

BTS also won Favourite K-Pop Artiste at the AMA, which was a new category during this year's event.

The boys beat BlackPink, Seventeen, TXT and Twice who were also nominated.

Meanwhile, BTS member Jungkook dominated the iTunes global charts with his official song for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The song, titled Dreamers, was released on Nov 20 and performed live the same day by the popular idol during the World Cup 2022 opening ceremony in Qatar.

Soompi reported that the single had peaked at No.1 on the iTunes Top Songs charts in over 102 different countries after just 13 hours of its release.

The regions included major music markets such as the US, UK, Japan, France, Canada, Australia, Germany and Italy.

Dreamers which took slightly over 120 minutes to hit the No.1 position on the iTunes Top Songs chart in the US making it the fastest official FIFA World Cup song to top that particular chart in the US.
