#Showbiz: BlackPink in Billboard's The 100 Best Songs Of 2022 list

KUALA LUMPUR: International K-Pop sensation BlackPink is the only Korean artiste to be featured in Billboard's latest staff list for The 100 Best Songs of 2022.

The list, which saw Blackpink's hit single Shut Down make it at No.91, highlights the famous American publication's favourite song picks of 2022 by its personnel was released yesterday.

According to Soompi, the tunes that made the list included tracks that were released this year or that peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2022.

Talking about the K-Pop track that made the list, Glenn Rowley wrote: "BlackPink may have kicked off their sophomore album Born Pink with a taste of Pink Venom but the K-Pop girl group elevates their latest era to even greater heights with the swagger and savvy of second single, Shut Down."

"Melding bouncing hip hop with a sample of Niccolò Paganini's 1826 violin concerto La Campanella proves ingenious as Rosé, Jisoo, Lisa and Jennie assert their status as the biggest girl group in the world.

"Now catch 'em when you hear their Lamborghini go vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom…," he said.

The red-hot K-Pop female quartet had also been highlighted recently in other popular publications and platforms such as Rolling Stone, TikTok, YouTube and Spotify for the success of Born Pink, as well as its other hit singles Pink Venom and Shut Down.

BlackPink was also announced as Time Magazine's Entertainer of the Year yesterday. This makes the talented music outfit the first girl group in history to garner the title.
