#Showbiz: BTS' Suga to enlist as public service worker?

KUALA LUMPUR: With BTS member Jin beginning his mandatory military service yesterday all eyes are now on Suga who is next in line from the international K-Pop group to begin his enlistment.

Rumours have been rife online that the 29-year-old idol whose real name is Min Yoon-gi would be assigned to serve as a public service worker.

According to Soompi, BTS' agency Big Hit Music had released a brief statement yesterday to address the speculation.

"BTS members plan to serve in the military sequentially according to their own plans.

"It is difficult to confirm the artiste's personal information," said a representative from Big Hit Music.

So far, none of the previous reports have divulged any specific details on Suga's enlistment plans such as the actual registration date.

Many believe the rumours of the rapper, songwriter and record producer being assigned to be a public service worker stem from him having to undergo surgery back in 2020.

This was to repair a torn shoulder labrum that was related to an injury he experienced in 2012 that got progressively worse.

At the time, he was working as a delivery boy and got hit by a car which resulted in the longstanding injury.

In previous reports, Big Hit Music had released a statement on his impending surgery that read: "Suga also felt that it was important for him to restore himself to good health to prepare for his mandatory military service as well as his post-service musical career."

"After extensive discussion with the company, the decision was made to undergo the surgical procedure," it added.
