#Showbiz: Nasyid singer Fitri loses almost RM1 milion in fire

KUALA LUMPUR: Nasyid singer Mohamad Fitri Mohamad Haris estimated that he lost almost RM1 million when his boutique was involved in a fire last Sunday.

In a news report today, the 38-year-old former member of nasyid group UNIC and a lecturer said that 70 per cent of Butik Al Mukarramah, which is located nearby Wisma Jakel in Section 7 in Shah Alam, was razed by the fire, destroying almost 80 per cent of its syariah-compliant prêt-à-porter collection including those meant for sale in Ramadan for Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration in April.

Despite the incident, Fitri said it hadn't discouraged him from continuing the business.

"However, we had to temporarily close the boutique as almost all the stock has been destroyed.

"We will continue to market the products under Al Mukarramah brand, which had been in the market for five years now," he said.

Fitri, however, has not yet decided whether to open another physical store or continue the business via online marketplace.

On Sunday morning, it was believed that the fire started from Jakel Mall and spread to the neighbouring stores, including Fitri's boutique.
