#Showbiz: It's back to the director's chair for Ahmad Idham

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor-director Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri is returning to filmmaking, having lost his bid to become Member of Parliament for Port Dickson in the 15th general election last year.

Ahmad Idham, 49, said that acting and directing were "part and parcel" of him and he would never give them up for politics.

"I haven't directed a drama or film for four years, and I miss doing so," he said in an interview with Harian Metro Online yesterday.

Ahmad Idham is now directing a comedy, and filming is taking place in Port Dickson and Kuala Lumpur.

"I'll wrap it up in 18 days and it stars relatively new faces as Hariz Hamdan and Nelissa Nizam," said Ahmad Idham.

Ahmad Idham said that he was willing to star in films and dramas with interesting scripts.

"I need not play the hero but I look for roles that are impactful and memorable," he said.

Ahmad Idham added that he would contest in state elections when the "time was right".

"This year, I want to focus on film as well as non-governmental organisation work, particularly education for children with special needs."

Ahmad Idham was the Gerakan Tanah Air candidate for Port Dickson last November, but he lost to Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun of Pakatan Harapan (PH) with a majority of 23,601 votes.
