KUALA LUMPUR: The first day of former Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin's stint as a radio announcer on Hot FM has been well-received by listeners.
In fact, so popular was 47-year-old Khairy or KJ that the massive number of callers caused a brief disruption on Hot FM's streaming channel.
Khairy co-hosted the breakfast show Bekpes Hot with fellow radio announcers AG and Johan from 6am to 10am. However many listeners felt that his four hours on air were insufficient for them to chat with him.
Media Prima Audio chief executive officer Nazri Noran told Harian Metro Online yesterday that Hot FM's YouTube channel received more than 10,000 comments, welcoming his presence in the station.
"Khairy has handled his segment very well and has been very sporting despite the hiccup. He has been able to blend in nicely with AG and Johan," he said.
Nazri added that Khairy's first day in the station could be viewed by fans on Hot FM's social media platforms.
"As for being a live radio announcer on YouTube, Khairy is still on probation. He might be, later."
