KUALA LUMPUR: Local animation company Les' Copaque Production which is responsible for the Upin & Ipin series and movies received the Unity Film Award from the National Development Corporation (Finas) on Monday.
The award was presented by Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil as part of Finas' Hari Seniman Kebangsaan 2023 celebrations.
Les' Copaque Production founder Burhanuddin Md Radzi said that the achievement was a personal record for those who were actively producing animated series for viewers.
"This work certainly highlighted a peaceful and harmonious lifestyle fostered through unity among the races.
"We are proud to receive this award. From the time that the Upin & Ipin series was first produced in 2007, the animation has never strayed from presenting a message of unity," he said.
Burhanuddin added that he was also proud of the fact that the series had been well received in Indonesia up till today.
"It's not easy to get Indonesians to like content from Malaysia, whether it be our films or music. But Upin & Ipin has succeeded very well over there," he said.
