KUALA LUMPUR: Moroccan-Canadian singer-songwriter Faouzia will be performing for the first time in Malaysia at a concert at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre's Plenary Hall on July 13.
The 22-year-old pop artiste and multi-instrumentalist, whose full name is Faouzia Ouihya, was named one of Variety's "Artists to Watch for the 2022 Grammys" and People's "Talented Emerging Artists Making Their Mark on the Musical Landscape".
Faouzia's hit single RIP, Love, which was inspired by the Moroccan and Arabic music of her childhood, has garnered more than 107 million worldwide streams since its release last year.
Produced by T.I Jakke (Ava Max, Lady Gaga, RedOne) with additional production by Tor Eimon and co-written by Jakke, Fransisca Hall (Lauren Spencer-Smith, Imagine Dragons, Illenium) and Faouzia, the tune was accompanied by an official lyric video, which has accumulated more than 53 million views on YouTube.
RIP, Love is part of Faouzia's eight-track EP, Citizens, which was released in 2022.
Available on all major music streaming platforms, the EP has been featured in more than 1.8 million TikTok creates, amassing more than four billion total views across the platform.
With more than 1.1 billion global streams to date and a combined social reach of more than 11 million followers, Faouzia has collaborated with the likes of John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, David Guetta and more.
"My favourite thing is hearing that one of my songs helped someone feel motivated or empowered, or even helped them to have a good cry, which sometimes is all you need," said Faouzia in a statement from concert organiser Live Nation Malaysia.
She added: "I really believe that immersing yourself in music can help you through the tough times in life, and I always hope that my songs can do that for everyone."
