#SHOWBIZ: Malaysian actress Fish Liew reveals she was sick for 2 years

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Kong-based Malaysian actress Fish Liew recently disclosed that she had been sick for two years.

In an Instagram Story, the 34-year-old revealed that she had been struggling with constant fevers, anxiety, weight loss, sensitive and itchy skin, palpitations, insomnia, and lack of appetite.

"Everything hurt, and I felt like crying every day. I took countless health supplements each day, hoping my condition would improve, but nothing worked," she said.

Liew, who earned a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 2024 Hong Kong Film Awards for her performance in A Guilty Conscience, shared that no amount of water could extinguish the burning sensation in her body.

"I would get irritable, with my thoughts leading me to make impulsive decisions or say the wrong things.

"Whenever someone asked how I was, I could only answer 'a little tired'," she said.

After exploring traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine, as well as both physical and psychological therapies, Liew eventually found a Chinese medicine doctor who played a key role in her recovery.

The Johor-born actress assured that she was gradually recovering, with her appetite showing huge improvement.

"I have realised that being able to eat and sleep is a blessing.

"I know there is still a long way to go before I achieve a strong body," she said.
