ETCM to donate RM20,000 to aid flood victims

KUALA LUMPUR: Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) will donate a total of RM20,000 towards flood support and relief efforts.

Of the proceeds, RM10,000 will be channelled to Pusat Jagaan Baitul Hidayah while Rumah SVP Klang and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Klang Utama Caring Home will each receive RM5,000.

The money will be used for post-flood recovery efforts, including buying of necessities, food, personal hygiene items as well as cleaning and repairing housing areas damaged by severe flooding.

Of the amount, a contribution of RM12,841 came from ETCM's "Nissan Almera Turbo Fuel Efficiency Charity Drive" campaign.

"On behalf of the children, we are so thankful for the heart-warming support given by ETCM during these difficult times, it definitely will ease our daily burdens.

"The floods almost submerged our house completely. It happened so quickly and we could hardly save anything. Everything was destroyed in a split second. Children's safety is always our top priority and I am grateful that the children are all safe," said Pusat Jagaan Baitul Hidayah caretaker Puan Saadiah.

Pusat Jagaan Baitul Hidayah in Puchong is a charitable children's home which houses orphans and children of low-income families. The home currently houses 65 boys and girls aged 3-16 years old.

Rumah SVP Klang houses abandoned, underprivileged and children of single parents. It cares for 11 boys under the age of 12.

Lastly, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Klang Utama Caring Home houses 43 orphans between the ages of 1.5-24 years old currently.

"There are so many heartbreaking stories on the struggle that Malaysians are going through. We are deeply saddened to see floodwaters submerge houses and cars and hope our gestures will help to relieve the burden of those affected during this difficult time." said Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd (TCMH) group chief executive officer Daniel Ho.

ETCM together with Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis Sdn Bhd (TCEAS) had also deployed the Nissan Flood Relief Assistance programme to aid Nissan owners whose vehicles were affected by the recent floods.

The programme offers 20 per cent discount on parts and labour charges, a special upholstery restoration prices and an Easy Payment Plan (EPP) up to 12 months on total bill.

ETCM has also loaned a total of six vehicles to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) as part of the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. Five units of Navara 4WD and one Serena multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) were loaned out to support the flood relief efforts and vaccination programme.

MITI's #MITI prihatin programme in Ulu Langat and Mercy Malaysia each received two units of Navara with one unit going to The Hope Branch (Pertubuhan Harapan Amal Harith Iskander). The Serena was loaned to Mercy Malaysia.

The Hope Branch is a non-profit community organisation focusing on providing humanitarian aid, medical relief, sustainable health development during both crisis and non-crisis times.
