Twitterjaya grumbles as Obama's entourage brings Klang Valley traffic to standstill

KUALA LUMPUR: Netizens took to social media today to vent their frustrations as traffic came to a standstill along many roads in the Klang Valley.

Shafri Izharuddin @Shafri_Izhar posted a picture of traffic at a complete stop on the Federal Highway on Twitter, with the caption "Obama caused this traffic, federal towards kl closed".

Muhammad HafizRayyan @HafizRayyan posted a picture of an extensive crawl on the Federal Highway, near the Carlsberg factory in Petaling Jaya.

Meanwhile, Fathin Jamil @fathinjamil posted a picture of traffic coming to a total stop on the Guthrie Highway, with the caption: "Jam . Total stop dekat (near) guthrie highway. Everyones out of their car. Dorang kata obama's coming (They say Obama is coming) ? Aiyooo. Help me !"

Bernama reported that traffic in the city came to a standstill after the federal highway from Subang to the city centre was closed since 4pm today.

Also congested were Jalan Imbi, Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Sultan Ismail.

The Bernama report quoted a City Traffic Police operation room spokesman, as saying the Subang-Kuala Lumpur route on the federal highway was closed to all traffic.

Air Force One, Obama's official plane landed at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base in Subang at 3.20pm.

"The highway remained closed until the US President arrived at the KL Convention Centre," Bernama reported the traffic spokesman as saying.

All motorists are advised to use alternative roads and to adhere to all instructions to avoid being trapped in traffic congestion, he added.
