Eco World Foundation donates school furniture to SJK(C) Pei Hwa

JOHOR BARU: The Eco World Foundation has donated 220 sets of students' desk and chair worth RM28,000 to Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJK(C)) Pei Hwa, Taman Perling here.

A handing-over ceremony of the new furniture was attended by Eco World Foundation chairman, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye today.

The desks and chairs were presented to SJK(C) Pei Hwa's Parent Teacher Association chairman, Ler Keat Jit in a simple ceremony at the school hall today.

"The contribution of new furniture was based on an application and request from SJK(C) Pei Hwa in January. The school sought help in replacing their old desks and chairs that were worn out.

"Last year, the foundation donated about 1,800 sets of desks and chairs to schools nationwide," said Lee.

The Eco World Foundation, which was established two years ago, has spent RM28,000 on replacing and providing school furniture and facilities.

Another major programme by the Eco World Foundation is the Students Aid Programme (SAP), where underprivileged students from primary and secondary schools receive financial assistance from the foundation.

Lee said the foundation sets aside RM5 million per year, which is provided by the company and collected from donors for the SAP.

"Under the SAP, we pay for all of the students' educational requirements such as uniforms, stationery, books, meals, school and tuition fees and other needs.

"Currently, we are helping 3,000 students in Malaysia where 2,650 of them are primary school students from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Pahang, Johor and Sabah," he said.

"This is in addition to the initiative to help the Education Ministry in easing the many requests from schools to replace or provide new furniture and facilities." Lee said.
