Fast food chain worker claims trial to raping grandmother

KAJANG: A fast food restaurant cook was charged at the Sessions Court today with raping a 57-year-old grandmother who lives in the same apartment building in Semenyih last week.

The 29-year-old man pleaded not guilty to the charge before judge Mohd Kafli Che Ali.

According to the charge sheet, the man had raped the grandmother of 20 grandchildren at an apartment unit in Semenyih between 2pm and 2.45pm on Oct 15.

The offence under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a maximum 20 years' jail and whipping.

Deputy public prosecutor Norhana Sahat did not offer bail to the accused.

However, the accused in pleading for bail said he no longer lives in the area and would not go close to the victim.

The judge then allowed the accused RM8,000 bail with one surety and ordered him to report to the police station once a month until disposal of the case.
