Man slashed with paper cutter in road rage

KUALA LUMPUR: A 33-year-old man became the latest road rage victim when he was slashed with a paper cutter in an altercation along Jalan Telawi 3 here early this morning.

It was learnt that two men in a Proton Satria grazed the victim's Honda Accord at the junction of Jalan Telawi, sparking the attack between the two suspects, the victim and two of his friends.

The incident occurred just after 12am when business premises along the road were closing for the day.

Brickfields District Police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said checks showed the two suspects alighted from the Satria car and started attacking the victim, before one slashed him.

"The victim was bleeding profusely while lying on the road.

Passerbys had alerted the police but the suspects fled the scene before authorities arrived," he said, adding that the police were looking for two men to facilitate investigations.

Anuar added the victim sustained injuries to his head and was rushed to the Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) in an ambulance, where he was currently being treated.

"The victim's car was also damaged," he said.

He said police were investigating the case under Section 148 of the Penal Code for armed rioting.

It is also learnt that all five, including the victim, were intoxicated at the time of the incident.
