Food delivery riders nabbed on suspicion of raping underage girl

PETALING JAYA: Police arrested six men in Kampung Sungai Kayu Ara for suspected involvement in a gang-rape of a 15-year-old girl at a hotel.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said during preliminary investigations, the suspects who worked as food delivery riders had admitted to committing the offence.

"At noon Wednesday, a woman was informed by her sister that she was gang-raped by six men at a hotel.

"Police were alerted to the incident and a team was dispatched to arrest the suspects in Kampung Sungai Kayu Ara.

"The suspects are aged between 16 and 22-years-old. Two of them had quit school and are working as food delivery riders."

Another two from the group of suspects were also found to have previous criminal and drug records.

"The victim is receiving treatment at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre. She is also suffering from psychological distress."

The case is being investigated under Section 375(b) of the Penal Code. The suspects are currently under remand for seven days.
