JEMPOL: An unemployed man was fined RM3,500 by the Bahau Magistrate's Court after he pleaded guilty to threatening to circulate his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend's nude photos on WhatsApp.
Magistrate Muhammad Hidayat Wahab passed the sentence after the 26-year-old accused from Kuala Pilah, pleaded guilty when the interpreter read out the charge against him.
The court also ordered the accused to serve 10 months' jail if he failed to pay the fine.
According to the charge sheet, the accused threatened to circulate his ex-girlfriend's nude photos on WhatsApp at Taman Desa Putera at 7.07pm on Jan 17 after she did not want to continue their relationship.
The accused has committed an offence under Section 503 of the Penal Code and can be punished according to Section 506 of the same Act.
Police investigation revealed that the accused kept the nude photos and videos of his ex-girlfriend on his mobile phone.
Deputy public prosecutor Raya Muhammad Amirul Noor Hashimi prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.
