Six Ipoh cops nabbed at wild party; test positive for meth, ketamine [NSTTV]

IPOH: Six policemen, including a senior officer with the rank of Inspector, were arrested during a raid at a wild party held at an apartment here, early today.

Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said in the 1.30am raid, police also picked up eight women, including three Indonesians.

Mior said five of the policemen, including the senior officer, tested positive for ketamine and methamphetamine, while seven of the females also tested positive for drugs.

"We arrested them based on a tip-off that there was a wild party going on at the unit," he said, adding that the policemen are aged in their 20s to 40s.

It is leant that during the wild party, the policemen were consuming drugs, but no substances were seized during the raid.

Mior said this during a press conference at the Perak Police Contingent Headquarters here, today.

He added that he has warned his officers and personnel several times not to get involved in drugs – but this has fallen on deaf ears.

"(We) have warned them, but they are still involved in this activity. Beginning today, we will take more stern action against them," he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Meanwhile, Perak police confiscated 22.4kg of drugs worth RM866,577 at three different locations in raids carried out on Wednesday and Thursday.

Mior said in the first raid on Wednesday, police arrested two men, aged 26 and 35, at a house in Kampung Baru, Kamunting.

"Upon further checks, we found 110 packets of transparent plastic, believed to contain heroin and syabu, weighing 240g and 6.77g, respectively, worth RM9,077," he said.

On the second raid, Mior said police arrested a 40-year-old man at Lapangan Symphony Business Park here on Wednesday, at about 2pm.

"Police found 10 packets of transparent plastic believed to contain heroin weighing 4.5kg, worth RM157,500," he said.

On the third raid, Mior said a fisherman spotted a sack floating in Pangkor waters at 9.45am on Thursday.

"There were 20 packages of tea powder in the sack, 17 of them were still in good condition, while three other packages were soggy.

"Further checks revealed that the packages contained drugs believed to be methamphetamine weighing 17.5kg worth RM700,000," he said, adding that no arrest has been made so far.
