Teacher charged with 32 counts of sexual acts against students

TELUK INTAN: A teacher was charged at the Sessions Court here with 32 counts of sex outside the order of nature and outraging the modesty of seven male students last year.

Mohd Faizal Amir, 32, who teaches at a secondary school in Tapah however pleaded not guilty to all charges before judge Intan Nurul Farena Zainal Abidin.

The offences were alleged to have taken place at the warden's house in the school, where he also served as a warden during that time.

According to the charge sheets, he was accused of performing oral sex on his students aged between 14 and 16-years-old and later get them (students) to sodomise him between July 27 and Sept 28 last year.

He was charged with 10 counts of committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature on the victims under Section 377B of the Penal Code, which carries a five to 20 years' jail and whipping upon conviction.

Another 22 charges were made against him under Section 14(a) and Section 14(d) of the Sexual Crimes Against Children Act 2017, which carries an imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Cheah Shuh Yuan did not offer any bail to the accused.

The accused's lawyer, Muhammad Farid Wajdi Hanif however asked the court to impose bail at RM3,000 for each charge.

Intan Nurul Farena set bail at RM55,000 with one surety for all the charges and ordered the accused to stay away from the victims and report himself at the police station once a month.

She fixed November 15 for mention.
